Sophomore Start: “Full Journey” Comprehensive Package

Beginning Summer prior to (or anytime during) client’s High School Sophomore year

Comprehensive packages include unlimited meetings, emails, phone calls as appropriate. Regular working sessions and check-in meetings to be scheduled at the convenience of IGNITE and the Client.

SOPHOMORE YEAR: PREPARE & EXPLORE:

  • Provide insight into the college admissions process, and a 3-year timeline for preparation. Includes a custom-built college prep organizer

  • Administer and interpret personal surveys and assessments to explore strengths, interests, and preferences

  • Advise on academic course planning

  • Recommend ways to expand extracurricular involvement and set goals for current activities

  • Brainstorm summer plans and activities 

  • Introduce college and major exploration resources and approaches

  • Typically meet quarterly (~5+ service hours)

 

JUNIOR YEAR: EXPLORE & FOCUS:

  • Conduct family check in / planning meeting

  • Evaluate overall candidate profile from a college admissions perspective

  • Continue personal surveys and assessments as necessary

  • Provide ongoing guidance on college list development based on academic profile and personal attributes and preferences

  • Provide direction to explore colleges both in-person and virtually

  • Assist with major and career exploration

  • Advise on standardized testing strategy

  • Advise on academic course planning

  • Recommend ways to expand extracurricular involvement and set goals for current activities

  • Brainstorm summer plans and activities

  • Discuss strategy for teacher recommendations

  • Offer resources and guidance on how to navigate the financial aid process (for informational purposes only. IGNITE is not a financial advising company)

  • Typically meet Summer, Fall, then bimonthly beginning January (~10+ service hours)

 

SENIOR YEAR: APPLY & DECIDE:

  • Conduct family meeting to finalize college list (including likely, target, and reach colleges) and application plans (including Early Decision, Early Action, Rolling, and Regular Decision)

  • With student, develop strengths-based college application themes and strategy

  • Develop timeline and work plan, and provide project / time management support for the entire application process. Includes a custom-built college application organizer

  • Provide overview of Common Application components (and additional institutional applications if applicable) and how to complete them

  • Assist with personal statement essay (includes topic brainstorming, story line development, and grammatical editing. IGNITE will not write essays for clients)

  • Assist with college-specific supplemental essays and questions for up to 12 colleges including honors programs (if applicable). Additional college-specific supplemental materials, such as additional colleges beyond the initial 12, scholarship applications and summer programs, may be reviewed at an hourly rate

  • Assist with development of activities resume for the Common Application

  • Review completed application materials (all application materials must be completed by the client)

  • Prepare for admissions interviews (if applicable)

  • Advise on any recommended correspondence with colleges

  • Provide guidance on college selection after admissions decisions have been made by colleges

  • Typically meet every other week in Summer, weekly in Fall (~25+ service hours)

 

 

Junior Start: “Preparing to Launch” Comprehensive Package

Typically 35+ total hours of consultant service time; plans may vary by student.  Comprehensive packages include unlimited meetings, emails, phone calls as appropriate. Regular working sessions and check-in meetings to be scheduled at the convenience of IGNITE and the Client.

Application Essentials Junior/Senior Mini Package

 

Beginning January of client’s High School Junior year

8 total hours of consultant service time. Hours include both live meetings with student and consultant’s time conducting research or materials review on behalf of student. 5 working sessions to be scheduled at the convenience of IGNITE and the Client.  Students are expected to put in additional hours of independent work time in between sessions, and must agree to meet internal deadlines specified by IGNITE. Management of application timeline is the responsibility of the Student/Family.

Meeting #1: January

  • Introductions and profile review (academic, extracurricular, personal)

  • Discussion of initial college and major preferences 

  • Follow up: Initial college list suggestions

 

Meeting #2: February/March

  • College list check-in on research/visits

  • Senior year course selections

  • Summer planning / other extracurriculars

  • Follow up: Additional college list suggestions

 

Meeting #3: May/June

  • Application Themes and Essay Topic Brainstorming

  • “If You Really, Really Knew Me” exercise to generate personal statement and supplement ideas

 

Meeting #4: August

  • Family meeting to discuss final college list and application timeline

  • College Kickstart Report with “likelies, targets, reaches”

  • Custom application organizer with deadlines, requirements, essay prompts

 

Meeting #5: September

  • Final Draft Personal Statement Essay review

  • Final Draft Activities Section review

 

Bonus Review: October

  • Complete Common App Review for top choice college

 

 

Optional Add-On to Mini Package: Personal Statement Essay Development

 

Essay assistance to begin no later than August.

 

Provide assistance on Common Application personal statement essay:

  • Topic brainstorming, story line development, multiple draft review and feedback, and grammatical editing 

  • Includes several working sessions to be scheduled at the convenience of Ignite and the Client, as well as virtual review and feedback, over the course of the summer.  Client is responsible for completion of individual assignments and action items according to schedule

  • Time includes both meeting time with Client and Ignite time reviewing materials

  • IMPORTANT: IGNITE will not write essays for clients

 

Note on Mini Package: Additional time, for the development and/or review of additional application materials (e.g., supplemental essays) for additional colleges may be purchased for an additional hourly fee depending on Consultant’s availability.
